Steffi Holmes

Biography

Steffi Holmes is a graduate of the University of Delaware where she received her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance. She received eight years of vocal training from the adjunct and professional staff of the University’s Music Department. She also received extensive instruction and training in choral and solo vocal literature, vocal technique, choral conducting, and vocal pedagogy. Since experiencing a vocal injury and vocal rehabilitation, Steffi's knowledge of vocal disorders and injuries has expanded, along with her teaching technique and approach to vocal health. Recent study with Margaret Baroody and Sheryl Woods Olson have also enhanced the knowledge and offerings of Steffi's private studio. Steffi is the Director of Music Ministries at the Dover Air Force Base Catholic and Protestant Chapels and teaches students privately during the week. She sings professionally as a soloist for area events and with her husband in their eponymous jazz/folk duo, Steffi and Tim.

Studio information

As a private voice teacher in the greater Dover community, I feel that my responsibilities are to prepare my students for performance opportunities that arise in their schools, churches, and communities; to develop an appreciation for all styles of vocal and piano music; to provide musical challenges, a musical education and an awareness of the vastness of musical performance opportunities; and for those students who are unsure of their future musical pursuits, to develop a solid foundation in good music practice for use in solo and ensemble settings that will serve them in years to come.

Children pursuing music are recommended to begin with piano, to develop music theory and reading skills before advancing to private voice lessons. Students have found that voice lessons at any age are beneficial and have led to improvements in their personal and professional endeavors.
