Protestant Worship Leader
Position Overview
We are looking for a passionate part-time worship leader to serve the Dover Air Force Base Chapel’s Protestant community. The role involves serving as backup for the primary worship leader(s) for Sunday services, supporting congregational singing, and providing backup vocals when needed.
Commitment
- Sunday worship service (currently 10am)
- Mid‑week rehearsal
- Expected average of 3 Sundays per quarter (≈ 12 Sundays a year), scheduled in advance
Key Responsibilities
- Lead congregational singing and set musical tone.
- Collaborate with the chapel team (music director, chaplain, volunteer musicians).
- Provide backup vocals and/or substitute lead vocals when requested.
- Attend weekly rehearsal (when scheduled) and maintain punctuality.
- Arrive 30 minutes before service for setup and sound check.
Must‑Have Qualifications (Non‑Negotiable)
- ≥ 2 years experience leading worship in a Protestant church environment.
- Ability to learn and perform a variety of worship music styles (contemporary, traditional, gospel, etc.) with minimal preparation time.
- Current, active participation as an attendee/member in a Protestant church.
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in music or equivalent professional musical background.
Compensation
A weekly stipend will be provided for each service performed. The amount is commensurate with your level of education and experience in church music leadership.
Additional compensation will be provided for any extra rehearsals or special services beyond the regular Sunday worship.
